Telling tales - research into existing rivalries

To help with understanding rivalry a bit more. I began by looking at existing rivalry in film, what the main cause of this rivalry

was and how it was carried out.



The first that came to mind was the Batman and Joker, they rely on eachother even though they are seen as enimies, without one would wouldn't have the other. So with batman, crime is a big topic that creates the story and brings these two together. 

Another that came to mind is Scar and Mufasa from The Lion king. Here you have the common sibling rivalry, one is jealous of the other's power, and therefor causes trouble. 

Tom and Jerry is your classic cat and mouse chase. This kind of rivalry is comical, due to the over exaggeration of the characters and the silly violence. 

These are all great examples of story line topics we could look at for 'rivals'. And I think a sibling rivalry could be the best way to go for this animation.
