Telling tales - Character development

Once I had done some sketches of my character, we agreed to swap our designs, so the other person could add to it.
Ciara's character design

There wasn't much i could add to Ciara's design that she gave me, so  I couldn't really develop her character in the same way she developed mine.  But there were a few things I wanted to change.

Ciara's character edited by me
I bulked out the character abit as I thought making her too thin made her head look too big and that to create it in maya would be a bit difficult. I changed the colour of the t-shirt as it wasn't clear to see with the yellow dress. And I got rid of the hat on the hat, as i didn't think it needed to be there. I made here face less detailed also, just to make life simpler for us when uv mapping.

Ciara then went back and developed the character more, hopefully taking on some of the points and designs I suggested.

My character edited  by Ciara

Ciara came back to me with this design, again I thought he looked too thin, and thought his curly hair would be difficult to create in maya. But I really like the colours S knew I would stick with them.

My character further edited by me

I went back and edited him further, bulking him out, and made him look more like an older brother having a normal day out, instead of being in his sport gear.

I showed him to Ciara and she thought that our characters really didn't look like each other. (My drawing of the two look similar, and her drawings of the two look similar, but our styles are still different from eachothers)

Ciara went off to take both our designs and try and make them look like the same style design. I Think the girls head is too big and that she now looks like a young adult, so she needs to be smaller. I still believe he arms and legs are too thin. My character also doesn't match hers still, so I'll try to improve him to look more like Ciara'.

I'll also ask about any improvements we can make to our characters in the intrim crit, that we may not have seen or thought about.
